As part of my continued education about tiny houses, I sat down a week ago on a rare night at home, pulled out a paintbrush, and set to work on my jacket while watching this video. It’s a documentary by Stephen Hewitt that runs just under an hour and documents the creation of two tiny houses, one by students at Yestermorrow and one by a couple from Northeastern University, and interviews with several other tiny house builders and enthusiasts.
The documentary sets its tiny stage with this quote:
“Somewhere along the line the American Dream became defined by owning more stuff than your neighbor. Is that the new truth? Do we need a bigger house or a better car to find happiness? Does it come about when we sacrifice dreams for the pursuit of stuff?” – Andrew Odom
