As music venues across the city are disappearing, Porter Square Books and Miranda’s Hearth, a local creative non-profit, are teaming up to offer something new. The Hearth Concert Series @ Porter Square Books After Hours places local musicians among the bookshelves to serenade listeners while they browse.
On Saturday, May 4 from 8:00-10:00 pm, Amy Kucharik and Friends with Benefits will be among the shelves. Drawing from blues, folk and Vaudeville traditions and with a street-smart stagecraft honed in the subways of Boston, Amy transports her audience to a place both timeless and familiar, but nevertheless innovative. Following this concert, Miranda’s Hearth will run a community jam session at Amy Kucharik’s Somerlele: Somerville Ukulele Festival from 12:30-4:30 on Sunday, May 5 at Arts at the Armory.
Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Books will be available at the event, so make your shopping list before you come and enjoy the opportunity to browse the shelves. Add a donation to your ticket to support the Hearth mission of building community through creativity that is approachable, affordable, and accessible!
