On August 9, 2019, Miranda’s Hearth submitted the following proposal to repurpose the Briscoe Middle School in Beverly as BevArt: The Beverly Arts Community Center.
Although our proposal was ultimately not chosen, we were honored to have such an incredible array of support behind the project. After over 2,000 hours of informational interviews with 140 individuals in Beverly and the surrounding towns, we identified a core need in the city and the region: to actively develop affordable creative and community spaces.
Over 250 artists responded to our Interested Artist Survey saying that they would be interested in renting space in the building and 23 businesses wrote strong letters of support. We share this proposal to celebrate and center the strong will of the creative community on the North Shore and we look forward to bringing this untapped potential to our next project!
A special thanks to MassDevelopment for awarding us a Seed Grant through the Collaborative Workspace Program to cover the costs of developing this proposal.
