MATT MCARTHUR

FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AT THE RECORD CO.

Speaker at IGNITE: A conference for creative community builders on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Lesley University Hall in Porter Square!

Matt McArthur is a piano player and songwriter turned arts administrator. He moved to Boston from Tucson, AZ in 2007 to study music technology at Berklee College of Music. During his time at Berklee he founded The Record Co. (TRC), a nonprofit with a simple goal to provide affordable recording studio time to emerging music makers. Today The Record Co.’s flagship affordable recording program hosts more than 1,300 low cost recording sessions for more than 3,500 musicians annually and the organization’s vision has widened to more broadly address barriers between all music makers and their creative visions.

Matt on why community is important:

We are social creatures, we need to connect with one another in order to feel whole as individuals. Community is the outcome of that connection, proof that we’re doing it right. In the absence of social cohesion and support people literally live shorter lives. So…it’s important.

Come and see Matt speak during IGNITE: A conference for creative community builders on May 20, 2018 at Lesley University Hall in Porter Square!
