Miranda is heading to South Africa!

This August, Hearth Founder Miranda Aisling is heading to South Africa to assist with The Mama Project!

The Mama Project works with women from Cape Town townships in South Africa, and female artists from Boston, inclusive of women from other nationalities and under-resourced communities, to create opportunities for women to meet, make art, share culture, develop relationships, and build confidence around what it means to be a woman and a mother, so women can thrive.

Sara Stackhouse, Founder and Creative Director of the Mama Project, was the keynote speaker at IGNITE: A conference for creative community builders hosted by Miranda’s Hearth last year. She spoke about The Mama Project and her other community artwork, sharing her belief that art-making, creativity, storytelling, self-expression, and the sharing of cultures are critical to the health of individuals, families, communities, and societies.

Miranda, whose dedication to community art started with a college trip to El Salvador led by community artist Claudia Bernardi, is thrilled to be part of the third year of the Mama Project.

She looks forward to working with and learning from the many strong women involved, from both South Africa and Boston, and is excited to bring their knowledge and stories back to the Hearth Community this fall.

Donate now to The Mama Project to support this international community art initiative!
